South Korean defender Cha Du-ri is reportedly looking at a transfer to Celtic FC, where he would join international teammate Ki Sung-yueng.

"I fly to Glasgow on Tuesday to complete the medical check, then I will take a two-week holiday in South Korea," he said in an interview with magazine Kicker, one of most popular football magazines in the world before leaving Johannesburg.

The former SC Frieburg right-back is now available on a free transfer and if this new deal is done, the 29-year-old defender will link up with Ki, who had two assists in Korea's World Cup campaign in South Africa.

Cha, the son of Cha Bum-kun who was one of the best forwards in Bundesliga in Germany, was a forward in the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup, but switched position to become a defender.

While playing for Frieburg he was on the sidelines from the 25th round due to injury and agreed with the team that he would not extend the contract.

As Cha is out of contract, Celtic would not need to pay a transfer fee.

Andreas Hinkel, who currently plays at right back for Celtic, is being tracked by English and German clubs. If Cha signs for the Scottish club Hinkel is likely to move to Germany.
